Aculab Broadens Portfolio of Media Processing Boards with New High Capacity PCIe Variant

Milton Keynes, UK - Aculab, a leading provider of enabling technologies for the communications market, is pleased to announce that a new board variant is now available to meet the needs of developers building high capacity communications platforms using PCIe form factor technology.

The new board, fitted with 8 E1/T1 trunks and 4 DSPs supports, for certain configurations, more than double the channel count previously possible with Aculab's Prosody X PCI or PCIe boards.

"We are still seeing a strong demand for our DSP-based media processing boards, despite the seemingly overwhelming move towards software only solutions," noted Andrew Nicholson, Product Manager for Aculab. "Our customers required higher densities to achieve a lower price-per-channel, and that is what we have delivered. With its onboard Gigabit Ethernet interface, we are able to achieve outstanding VoIP channel counts on the board, as well as satisfying their need for TDM connectivity with 8 E1/T1 trunks".

The new board joins the existing Prosody X portfolio of PCI, PCIe and cPCI form factor media processing products. With DSP counts from 0 to 8, and trunk count options from 0 to 16, there is a product to meet the demands of developers building everything from small to large scale enterprise/telco systems.
