Condor Flies at Speed at Nepcon East Boston

Digitaltest at Nepcon East, Boston May 10-11th, Booth # 3041

Boston, May 6th 2006, Digitaltest has launched its second generation Flying Prober Condor 500, the latest addition to its suite of electronic test solutions. Using unique drive technology and linear motors to give high speed and high accuracy in fine pitch applications, the Condor 500 is 30% faster with a 25% price reduction over previous models. Integrated boundary scan is an option on this new platform.

To counter concerns manufacturers have about the damage caused by conventional probe testing techniques, particularly in complex and high density boards, Digitaltest has introduced its 'Soft Landing' technology on the Condor 500.

Another important introduction from Digitaltest is the revolutionary Concurrent In-Line ICT-and Functional Test Cell that was jointly developed with JOT Automation Inc. The brand new product, the Test Handler J402-11, comes with an embedded Digitaltest LAMBDA Concurrent Tester and provides benefits such as: shortened test cycle time; increased test coverage and quality; minimized footprint; press force 3000 N (4500 N); robust construction; and easy and quick fixture change.

Also Shown at Nepcon East:

EAGLE MTS 180 Test System
The MTS180 is Digitaltest's economical solution for high volume production. Equipped with a Press-Down Unit and a combination of analog and hybrid In-Circuit test pins, the MTS180 represents a class of its own. Furthermore, the tester can be equipped with functional test modules to provide higher fault coverage and thus satisfy the test requirements of a vast number of customers. The economics of the tester are not limited to the initial costs. For example, the economical press-down fixturing solution dramatically reduces the costs of test fixtures. Users can create the most complex fixtures with features such as double-sided board access, OpensCheck probes from both sides etc., at costs that are far below vacuum fixture costs. The system can be equipped with up to 2000 analog or 1600 hybrid pins, providing a reasonable-size platform. Eagle can also be integrated in Inline Solutions.

Our Software Offerings
Digitaltest's software has also now been expanded to provide a complete solution for manufacturers looking to integrate and speed up their test procedures. C-LINK DTM provides fast test program development directly from CAD data and parts-lists. CITE offers off-line simulation of available tests, which includes In-Circuit and Functional Test, Opens Check, Memory Test/and Programming, Boundary-Scan and Vision. The implementation of Boundary-Scan in Condor allows the heads and further pins to be driven parallel to Boundary-Scan, which enables an increase in test coverage while reducing test time. The net test method ensures a 3 to 5 times higher throughput in production over conventional Flying Prober systems. The software is complimented with an integrated quality management tool, QMAN.

New Boundary-Scan Solution
To further capitalize on the potential of boundary scan technology, Digitaltest has teamed up with GÃ-PEL Electronics, world-class vendor of IEEE-Std. 1149.x compliant JTAG/Boundary-Scan solutions, to develop the next generation Boundary-Scan option for the Digitaltest In-Circuit Tester series MTS 180, MTS 300, and MTS 888. The solution is based on a complete integration of the recently launched hardware architecture SCANFLEX® in combination with the Boundary-Scan system software CASCON GALAXY®, and also involves the ICT digital pin electronics.
