November 3, 2010 - Dust-tight and water-resistant, Sealed PCB Electrical Centers are designed to route signals and ensure proper circuit protection throughout vehicle. Units also provide resistance to temperature, chemicals, and abrasion through use of dispensed polyurethane/silicone foam gasket as well as Sealed GT Connectors and Sealed Metri-Pack Connectors. Suited for harsh environments, electrical centers offer protection in commercial vehicle and off-highway applications.

Delphi Launches First Sealed Printed Circuit Board Electrical Center

First sealed PCB bussed electrical center for commercial and off-highway applications features sophisticated environmental protection for electronics integration in harsh conditions

HANNOVER, Germany - There is no tougher proving ground for electrical/electronic architecture components than the commercial vehicle and off-highway markets, and Delphi Automotive has created a new sealed printed circuit board (PCB) bussed electrical center that is tailor-made for these harsh conditions.

Often referred to as the heart of the E/E architecture, electrical centers are electrical distribution units that route signals and ensure proper circuit protection throughout a vehicle. Delphi's new Sealed PCB Electrical Centers are dust tight and water resistant, and provide resistance to temperature, chemicals and abrasion through the use of a dispensed polyurethane/silicone foam gasket as well as Delphi Sealed GT Connectors and Delphi Sealed Metri-Pack Connectors. The PCB technology allows cost-effective bussing, a 30 percent reduction in mass compared to stamped metal electrical centers and reduced overall complexity.

"The heavy duty requirements of commercial vehicles and the environmental conditions off-highway trucks can encounter in forests, mines, farms and deserts, call for components that can perform under extreme pressure, over a longer life cycle than a traditional automobile," said Chris Morris, customer business unit director, commercial vehicles, Delphi Packard Electrical/Electronic Architecture. "The new Delphi Sealed PCB Electrical Center helps these systems deliver more robust and reliable performance."

Delphi has designed and produced robust electrical centers since 1991 and has more than 10 million PCB units in vehicle applications worldwide. Delphi possesses the proprietary design tools and the technology portfolio to deliver complete, optimized, expertly managed E/E architecture solutions.

The new Delphi Sealed PCB Electrical Centers are currently in production and available for use in a variety of customer applications.
