SiliconSystems Increases Performance and Capacity of its SiliconDrive II 1.8-inch Solid-State Drives

New SSDs Deliver SiliconSystems' Advanced Storage Technology in a Smaller Form Factor

ALISO VIEJO, Calif., Nov. 11 -- SiliconSystems, Inc., a world leader in advanced storage technology, today announced its new SiliconDrive II 1.8-inch Parallel ATA (PATA) solid-state drives (SSDs) that deliver the company's advanced storage technology along with increased performance and capacities in a smaller form factor. SiliconDrive II 1.8-inch SSDs are ideal for space-constrained OEM designs, feature read/write speeds up to 34 megabytes per second (MBps) and are shipping today in capacities up to 32 gigabytes (GB).

"SiliconSystems' new SiliconDrive II 1.8-inch drives satisfy growing customer demand for a hard drive replacement that meets their form factor, performance and capacity requirements," said Gary Drossel, vice president of product planning at SiliconSystems. "The scalability of SiliconSystems' SiliconDrive II storage platform is truly demonstrated with our 1.8-inch SSDs. Our Enterprise System OEM customers do not have to sacrifice performance or reliability in today's smaller or portable designs as SiliconSystems continues to deliver all of the company's proven advanced storage technologies into this smaller form factor."

SiliconDrive II 1.8-inch PATA SSDs feature SiliconSystems' patented PowerArmor, SiSMART and SiSecure integrated advanced storage technologies that address critical OEM design considerations, including the elimination of drive corruption due to power anomalies, the ability to forecast SiliconDrive useable life and the protection of application data and software IP.

The SiliconDrive II 1.8-inch PATA is a smaller, lighter and robust form factor alternative for space-constrained applications that have historically been forced to use 2.5-inch hard drives. SiliconSystems' SiliconDrive II 1.8-inch PATA SSD is an optimal hard drive replacement in a wide range of embedded system OEM applications that demand high performance, high capacity and industry-leading reliability for a lower total cost of storage ownership.
