New Centrigard® Overload Clutch

Torque-limiting Performance with No Backlash

February 8, 2006 - Quincy, Mass. - Centrigard, a new torque-timing clutch, joins Boston Gear's top-selling Centric® Clutch product line. The high-performance powerhouse has a stainless steel trip plate and a wide torque range, yet the unit is actually smaller than traditional products, making it ideal for packaging lines and other applications that require torque-limiting rotational timing.

"We designed Centrigard clutch with the end user in mind," explained Rick Wucherer, Centric Product Line Manager, Boston Gear. "The wider torque range, smaller footprint, and stainless steel trip plate are all features our customers told us they need because they increase the utility and wear life of the unit."

The Centrigard clutch is smaller than units with comparable power. That means users can specify a lighter-weight unit and get increased power density, saving money. Each Centrigard clutch has a wide torque range (100 to 1,200 in-pounds), which allows for maximum flexibility on the application. And the stainless steel trip plate is stronger than the traditional plastic trip plates found on most other comparable clutches. This enhancement provides longer-term protection for equipment and products on line.

"Many OEMs - especially packaging OEMs - have been looking for a smaller, more robust overload clutch that delivers reliable torque protection," said Angela Wallace, Strategic Market Manager, Packaging Machinery. "Centrigard delivers power and performance at a very attractive price."
