Bern Optics Announces Submillimeter Optical Windows as Small As 0.2 mm for Use in Precision Analytical & Medical Devices

WESTFIELD, MA, - Bern Optics, Inc., today announced the availability of exceptionally precise optical instrument windows as small as 0.20 mm in diameter. They can be custom engineered, ground and polished to micron tolerances in a wide variety of submillimeter standard or custom shapes.

Created from optical and filter glasses, these microscopic optical elements - some as small as a grain of salt - can be produced with extremely high accuracy. Custom designed reflective or anti-reflection coatings can be applied to meet the specific requirements of the application.

Precision optical windows are often used as a protective element between differing physical environments, making them ideal for use in protecting fragile optical components inside an assembly. They are also used in spectroscopic, chemical and color analysis instrumentation, as well as in endoscopic and other medical devices.

Founded in 1989 by Bernd Gottschalk, Bern Optics, Inc. is fully integrated to convert raw glass into highly accurate, exotically coated optical components, from prototype to volume production. As one of the premier independent manufacturers of precision optics, the company has consistently remained in the forefront of micro-optics manufacture and fabrication.
