Lambda Physik Introduces New Excimer Laser-Based DUV GeoLas PLUS Optical Systems for Solid Sampling in Mass Spectroscopy Applications

MUNICH, GERMANY, June 23, 2003 - The new GeoLas(TM) PLUS series, designed by MicroLas®, integrates the Lambda Physik® COMPex® 193 nm excimer laser, homogenized optical system, sample handling, sample visualization, and control software. This compact, yet sophisticated optical system was designed in modular form so it can be easily moved between mass spectrophotometers and laboratories.

Laser Ablation Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) at 193 nm has become a powerful technique that requires controlled, high resolution processing of solid samples. The GeoLas PLUS at a 193 nm wavelength produces controlled, smaller particle sizes that result in the best possible data collection due to a low fractionation index (near 1).

MicroLas combined years of optical design experience, along with close coordination with ICP-MS scientists from around the world, to design the GeoLas PLUS system that consistently delivers a highly precise beam that can be reproduced for sample after sample. For more information about the GeoLas PLUS go to lambdaphysik.com/microlas.

The COMPex excimer lasers are compact with a modular design for easy system integration and high system reliability. For more information about the COMPex go to lambdaphysik.com/compex.
