Molex Offers New Optical Military Cable Assemblies

Molex Incorporated (NASDAQ: MOLXE and MOLAE) has introduced Optical Military Cable Assemblies for a variety of military, avionics, flight control, mobile tactical field command platforms, Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI) sensitive and security applications. These high-end, cost effective military style connector solutions are available with fiber optic MIL-T-19504 approved termini, coupled with Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) cabling and fiber optic connectors.

The Optical Military Cable assemblies utilize ruggedized connectors designed for harsh environments. They can be terminated to both single-fiber and ribbon cable and are available in 2- to 29-pin configurations to meet MIL-STD-1560 requirements. Various finish types are also offered with plug, jam-nut and wall-mount receptacle options.

"While the government is focused on driving down costs by utilizing commercial-off-the-shelf products in its military applications, new equipment still requires rugged, high-performance solutions to withstand the harsh environments normally encountered with these applications," said Mark Matus, military product manager, Fiber Optics, Molex Incorporated. "From design to production, Molex applies its 15 years of fiber optics experience to meet this demand by offering high-end, cost-effective interconnection solutions for military and avionic applications."

The Optical Military Cable Assemblies offer custom lengths for COTS cabling and fiber routing options, including a wide variety developed for use in data and telecom and tactical versions. COTS connector options also include the typical ST, FC, SC, MT, MTP and the unique Molex Array high-density connectors. Molex also offers a host of other products for the military and avionics markets, including the BMTP MT-based Backplane Interconnect System, the HBMT MT High Density Backplane Interconnect System, EMI Adapters, the FlexPlane optical flex circuit, and custom interconnects and designs.

Molex's Optical Military Cable Assemblies offer flexibility and an affordable cost. Cable assembly pricing varies by construction type and length, and starts around $400. Short lead-times, typically between six to 10 weeks, are available. For more information on Molex's Optical Military Cable Assemblies, visit http://www.molex.com/ind/military/opt....
