Available materials range from chemical-resistant sapphire to glass. They can also be supplied in rutile, spinel quartz, YAG, ruby, cubic zirconia, and ceramic. Anti-reflective coating is available, and applications include fiber-optic lenses, bearings in instruments, and valve components.
