Emerson Network Power Launches Compact, Efficient NPS20-M Power Supplies with Medical and IT Equipment Safety Approvals

Carlsbad, Calif. - Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE:EMR) and the global leader in enabling Business-Critical Continuity(TM), today launched the NPS20-M series open-frame power supplies. With a compact 2 inch by 4 inch footprint and a height of 1 inch, the NPS20-M series supports up to 25 W with convection cooling and up to 40 W with forced air cooling.

Backed by a comprehensive set of worldwide IT equipment (ITE) and non-patient contact and non-patient critical medical safety approvals, the power supplies are ideal for use in light industrial, instrumentation and process systems, as well as low-power dental, medical and laboratory equipment. The NPS20-M power supplies can operate at full load in temperatures ranging from zero to 50 degrees Celsius (-20 degrees Celsius start up) and, with de-rating, up to 80 degrees Celsius.

Under normal operating conditions, Emerson Network Power's NPS20-M power supplies require less than 49 W of input power and consume less than 300 milliwatts of power under no-load conditions. They have an average efficiency of 87 percent and meet a variety of rigorous efficiency standards, including Energy Star 2.0, California Energy Commission (CeC) and International Efficiency Level V.

Available in five models with outputs ranging from 5 V to 48 V, NPS20-M power supplies accept a wide universal input voltage range of 90 to 264 Vac (127 to 300 Vdc). All models have plus or minus 20 percent user output voltage adjustment and remote sense. They are comprehensively protected against overload and overvoltage conditions and deliver a demonstrated mean time between failures (MTBF) of more than 550,000 hours. An optional enclosure kit (LPX50) is also available to ensure maximum component protection.

All NPS20-M power supplies feature built-in EMI filters (CISPR 22 Class B) and meet rigorous EN55022-B and VDE0878PT3-B conducted noise standards. Safety approvals include UL/ TUV/CSA/NEMKO 60950/60601-1, CE Mark LVD certification, CQC Mark, and CB certification.
