Dialog Launches New Knowledge-Sharing Tools on DataStarWeb

CARY, N.C., USA (February 28, 2006) - Dialog (www.dialog.com), a Thomson business, announced today the launch of two new, time-saving tools for use with DataStarWeb - AlertsManager, which is designed for the information professional seeking a more effective way to govern the information flow of their organization, and ReportAid, which facilitates post-processing and distribution of search results.

"These new tools on DataStarWeb make knowledge sharing across the organization easier than ever," said Tom Tankelewicz, Dialog senior director, Product Development. "The role of today's information professional is not to provide more information; rather, it is to provide better information in a format that is easy for decision makers to use. These new tools for DataStarWeb help streamline that process."

AlertsManager provides information managers with the ability to publish, track and manage access to alerts. Once the information manager has created an Alert, end users can then be invited to subscribe to available alerts.

Additional AlertsManager features include:

The ability to publish or post alerts so end users can subscribe without assistance
Copyright compliance is automatically applied based on number of subscribers to each alert
Alert Publishers can check who has subscribed to which alerts, find out how many alerts each end user is
receiving, and track expirations

AlertsManager is designed to complement other alerts administrative tools in DataStarWeb, including Alert Delivery Tracker, which allows users to verify if alerts or document deliveries have been completed successfully and request an alert or document to be resent to the user or someone else. DataStarWeb also offers Multiple-File Alerting, which provides the ability to set up and edit multiple alerts spanning different databases.

Also new for DataStarWeb is ReportAid, a post-processing tool that reduces the time it takes to refine search results and create publishable information dossiers for distribution to decision makers.

ReportAid allows DataStarWeb searchers to:

Post documents from different searches and later assemble those documents in a single, comprehensive report
Rearrange documents and fields and automatically create an index
Add text to a front page, include images and define the report layout
Output the report in three versatile formats (PDF, RTF and XML)

DataStarWeb is an online information service designed for both new and experienced information searchers who need current and authoritative business, scientific and technical information. Through DataStarWeb, searchers have access to over 350 databases with worldwide coverage. DataStarWeb is ideal for information professionals, marketing professionals, research and development professionals and sales professionals
