December 10, 2002 - LAN 9000 measures content of sugar (Brix) or Diet and CO2 in soft drink bottling operations. With infrared optical filter/detectors and digital electronics, unit identifies components by allowing only spectra of aforementioned ingredients to pass through detector. Amount of each is determined by absorption of unique spectra. Product includes single detection technology, built-in Ethernet connectivity, and on-line instrument control via 6.4 in. color LCD touchscreen.

NEW LAN 9000 On-Line Beverage Monitor

OI Analytical's new LAN 9000 On-Line Beverage Monitor is designed to measure the content of sugar (Brix) or Diet and CO2 in soft drink bottling operations. The LAN 9000's reliable performance and ease-of-operation increases productivity and profitability in beverage bottling plants. Maintaining high quality standards for the production of Diet beverages is now made easier because of the LAN 9000's new generation of infrared optics and detectors, which together with digital electronics produce consistent, reliable, and repeatable measurements.

With the LAN 9000, beverage components Brix, diet, and CO2, are specifically identified because an infrared optical filter allows only spectra of these components to pass through to the detector. The amount of each identified component is determined by the absorption of the unique spectra of each component, which is proportional to its concentration in the beverage. Accuracy in the LAN 9000 is further enhanced because it uses a single detection technology, infrared (IR), thus eliminating errors than can be produced by multiple detection techniques which require offsetting compensation.

The LAN 9000 On-Line Beverage Monitor includes user friendly features such as, user interface via intuitive Microsoft Windows CE technology, communications via built-in Ethernet connectivity, and on-line instrument control via a 6.4-inch color LCD touchscreen that provides user-defined displays of either component values or graphical trend displays. The system's modularity allows users to replace modules quickly if needed, with minimal downtime. There are no moving parts, thus no chopper motors or mechanical issues associated with them. The LAN 9000 may be connected to a Laboratory PC network for quality control analysis or networked to other internal or external locations for remote instrument control, data analysis, or troubleshooting and diagnostics. In addition, an optional remote display is available for easy viewing in the plant area of Brix and CO2 readings.
