New Mobil Pegasus 905 Oil Delivers Peak Performance in Natural Gas-Fueled Engines

Latest technology extends oil drain intervals in wide variety of engine makes and models

FAIRFAX, VA - New Mobil Pegasus 905 oil for natural gas-fueled engines raises the performance bar in lubrication technology, offering extended drain capability without sacrificing cleanliness and excellent wear protection. Rigorously field-tested in major OEM gas engines, Pegasus 905 delivers outstanding engine cleanliness and wear protection, and reduced heat exchanger deposits in natural gas gathering, transmission, cogeneration and combined heat and power applications.

"Mobil Pegasus 905 continues the strong pedigree of Pegasus natural gas engine oils," noted Vince Carey, ExxonMobil Senior Engineering Advisor. "We combined a new additive system with the highest quality heavy neutral basestocks to create a peak performance oil formulation that sets a new standard in natural gas engine protection."

In extensive field tests in Caterpillar, Waukesha, Jenbacher, Cooper Bessemer, Fairbanks-Morse, White and other natural gas engines, Pegasus 905 demonstrated that it minimizes wear, keeps engine components in excellent condition, maintains engine cleanliness, and extends oil life and drain intervals in a wide range of natural gas engine makes and models.

Field trials were carried out in a various turbocharged, naturally aspirated, medium-to-high-speed, four-cycle engines requiring a low ash level product. In some cases, the trials involved equipment operating under high load conditions for more than 10,000 hours of continuous service.

Simply put, Mobil Pegasus 905 delivers:

• Extended drain capability. Mobil Pegasus 905 demonstrated good oil life, superior deposit control and maintained engine parts in excellent condition in a battery of extended hours of service field trials

• Exceptional engine cleanliness and wear protection. Mobil Pegasus 905 features enhanced antioxidant characteristics, special viscosity control and thermal stability to easily meet and exceed the increasingly rigorous performance requirements of natural gas engines. The new oil demonstrates excellent detergency/dispersancy performance for cleaner running engines.

• Excellent oxidation and thermal stability. Mobil Pegasus 905 helps to sustain exceptional engine and oil performance over long periods of time, even at high operating temperatures.

Mobil Pegasus 905 was released in the United States in May 2002. It is set for release in stages around the world by year's end. In the United States, Mobil Pegasus 905 will be available at major distributors, most notably in gas producing regions of the United States.
