Dow Announces Expanded Line of UCON(TM) Oil Soluble PAG (OSP) Base Fluids



MIDLAND, MICH. - The Dow Chemical Company (Dow) today announced it has added three new ISO viscosity grades to its existing line of UCON(TM) Oil Soluble Polyalkylene Glycol (OSP) Base Fluids, expanding its total product offering to eight. Originally introduced in 2010, UCON(TM) OSP Base Fluids are used as primary base oils, co-base oils, and as additives in automotive and industrial lubricant formulations.

ISO viscosity grades 320, 460 and 680 have been added to the UCON(TM) OSP product line, complementing the existing ISO viscosity grades 32, 46, 68, 150 and 220. Brian Goldstein, Dow Lubricant & Fuel Additives Product Marketing Manager, said the new grades provide additional versatility for formulators. "Our expanded OSP Base Fluid product offering is designed to help lubricant and grease manufacturers create innovative new generations of PAG-based products for a wide range of high performance applications and service conditions."

UCON(TM) OSP Base Fluids allow formulators to incorporate the advantages of a PAG synthetic base fluid in combination with mineral, synthetic hydrocarbon or other oils to achieve a balanced formulation that capitalizes on the strengths of multiple chemistries. The resulting lubricant can provide enhanced wear performance, deposit control, oxidation stability, viscosity index, low temperature stability and other valuable properties."
