Caringo Announces Object Storage Platform 5.5 Makes Big Data Manageable Via Powerful Reporting, Increased Serviceability, and Massive Object Size Support

AUSTIN, Texas, - Caringo® Inc., the leading provider of object storage software, today unveiled The Caringo Object Storage Platform 5.5, offering increased service and support functions, reporting and management capabilities, and support for objects up to 4 terabytes.

The Object Storage Platform is comprised of three separate software applications that work together to provide massively scalable storage with automated protection and replication - all delivered at cloud economics. With the introduction of version 5.5, each component of the platform was upgraded to make big data manageable, and eliminate typical challenges of scalable content storage.

CAStor®: The leading object storage engine and the foundation of the Caringo platform can now store files of unknown size via chunked encoding, as well as objects as large as 4 terabytes. Extended server and storage status reporting via Net-SNMP was also added to enable the broadest range of integration into existing system monitoring tools.

Content Router: Caringo's rules-based workflow engine for metadata-driven global replication adds support for enumeration of named objects, resulting in more robust object search and indexing. Graphical reporting on replication progress, status and speed were also added for detailed insight.

Cluster Services Node: All of the platform components are managed via the Cluster Services Node - a web-based management application - that now includes a new 'watchdog' feature that will automatically restart failed services due to network interruption or other causes. In addition, administrators now have more granular control of node-level configuration parameters and can easily view all service versions and current status. Robust graphical reports were also added that show storage CPU load, network bandwidth utilization and system status available cluster wide or on individual nodes. All reports are SNMP-based for seamless integration into existing system monitoring tools and processes.

"With the introduction of 5.5 we are building on one of our key benefits and making massive unstructured data stores even more manageable," said Mark Goros, Chief Executive Officer at Caringo. "With the support for large file sizes, detailed reporting and increased automated serviceability, organizations now have a way to store any amount of unstructured data and get an instant and granular view of the complete Caringo object storage platform whether it is a hundred terabytes or a hundred petabytes."
