October 13, 2004 - Simriz® O-rings and Hastelloy® C springs for the NS4/NS6 Series of non-spill quick disconnect couplings offer increased chemical resistance in industrial waste lines, wastewater, laboratory, and semiconductor applications. O-rings are made of perfluouroelastomer to eliminate spills and ensure operator safety. They are also offered with ChemQuik® CQG & CQN couplings. Springs are rich in nickel and avoid chloride stress corrosion problems.

Colder Products Introduces New Simriz® O-rings and Hastelloy® C Springs for NS4/NS6 & ChemQuik Series

New Seals and Springs Expand Non-Spill Connection Options for Increased Chemical Resistance

St. Paul, MN – October 7, 2004 – Colder Products Company (CPC), the leading provider of controlled performance connections to chemical, biopharmaceutical, medical, and industrial markets, introduces its new line of Simriz® o-rings and Hastelloy® C springs for the NS4/NS6 Series of non-spill quick disconnect couplings. Simriz seal options will also be offered with the ChemQuik® CQG & CQN couplings as a lower cost alternative to the Chemraz® FFKM currently offered. The broader product options for the NS4 and NS6 couplings ensure an even greater chemical resistance to a wider range of media, resulting in increased safety and greater protection for end-users. Simriz o–rings and Hastelloy C springs are suitable for use in industrial waste lines, wastewater, laboratory, and semiconductor applications, and for those applications in which the chemical compatibility of the media is unknown

“Simriz o-rings and Hastelloy C springs are an excellent addition to the NS4/NS6 non-spill product series, since their primary focus is to virtually eliminate spills and improve operator safety,” says Andy Hass, Business Unit Manager, Industrial Markets at Colder Products. “The materials used in Simriz o-rings and Hastelloy C springs are of a higher grade and ensure a greater level of chemical compatibility.”

Simriz o-rings provide the highest degree of chemical resistance and are an economically priced perfluouroelastomer (FFKM). In turn, Hastelloy C springs are rich in nickel and avoid chloride stress corrosion problems.

“When dealing with particularly aggressive media, handlers need to have the best possible product, so as to eliminate undue risk,” says Hass. “Using Simriz o-rings and Hastelloy C springs help to minimize the risk of potential hazards occurring.”

As with all non-spill couplings, the main features include non-spill shut-off valves, color-coding to distinguish various media lines and olefinic overmolding, which increases the durability of the connection and provides a better grip for users. The choice of seals and springs is determined by the degree of chemical resistance needed by the end-user. Standard non-spill couplings resist a wide range of media and come with EPDM o-ring seals and 316 stainless steel springs.

Colder Products’ quality system is ISO 9001-certified and its couplings have demonstrated repeatable, leak-free performance.
