A10 Networks Unveils AX 1000 New Generation Server Load Balancer

Delivers the Industry's Most Efficient Performance per Watt in a 1U Server Load Balancer

SAN JOSE, Calif., April 6 /-- A10 Networks(R) today unveiled the AX 1000, a new entry-level model in the AX Series Advanced Traffic Manager family. The AX 1000 is ideal for enterprise server farms and delivers competitive Web application server performance where cost is a key consideration. AX 1000 is designed to meet critical business requirements in an energy-saving "green" form factor. The AX 1000's maximum power consumption is only 158 Watts when all ports are running traffic concurrently.

"The AX 1000 delivers us a high-performance server load balancer in a small footprint that can easily handle large volume, 'Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) scale' network traffic," said Rich Groves, principal architect for Microsoft. "The AX 1000 is an invaluable platform to help us research the traffic patterns for some of the Internet's largest worm outbreaks."

"One of the key challenges with ensuring acceptable application delivery is that in the vast majority of instances the end user, and not the IT organization, first notices application degradation," said Dr. Jim Metzler of Ashton, Metzler & Associates and author of the Application Delivery Handbook. "With the introduction of the AX 1000, A10 is addressing this issue head on with high performance in a highly affordable application delivery platform, lowering the barrier of entry to ensure enterprise-wide applications can be delivered properly."

The AX 1000 includes the full suite of Application Delivery features available in all AX family models, including:

  • Application Acceleration
-- SSL Hardware Acceleration, RAM Caching and HTTP Compression
  • Virtualized Management
-- User Configurable Role Based Administration
  • aFleX Layer 7 TCL Scripting allowing deep packet inspection for custom traffic management
  • aXAPI - REST-based XML API for custom management
  • Global Server Load Balancing (GSLB)
  • IPv4 and IPv6 Load Balancing and Management
  • Full Web GUI and Industry Standard CLI

"We are always looking for unique and elegant solutions to business technology problems with a focus on value," said Babak Pasdar, president & CEO of Bat Blue Corporation, a technology consulting firm and A10 Reseller Partner. "We selected A10's AX 1000s for our managed service practice because it represents the value trinity - better, cheaper, faster - that Bat Blue has built its practice around. The AX 1000s are more innovative, high performance and cost-effective server load balancers than any other solution we found on the market. With the AX 1000, Bat Blue gains a competitive advantage that it can easily translate into increased value for our customers."

"The new AX 1000 delivers strong performance in a cost-effective 1U platform for application delivery and server load balancing. Customers such as Microsoft that require a high-performance platform for Web traffic management will experience tremendous price and performance benefit from the AX 1000," said Lee Chen, founder and CEO of A10 Networks. "In addition, the AX 1000 consumes 45 percent less power than many competitors' products."

The AX 1000 includes A10's Advanced Core Operating System (ACOS), which leverages modern multi-core, multi-threaded software to provide performance advantages. The AX 1000 processes application traffic in parallel fashion, without the need to replicate user traffic. As a result, applications run faster with AX 1000 than competing systems on the market today.

The AX 1000 is especially attractive for Alteon load balancing customers looking for a feature-rich upgrade at an affordable price. For more information on the AX 1000 Alteon Replacement Program, please contact A10 directly.
