Emerson Network Power Enhances Monitoring of IT Support Systems with Liebert Nform 2.0

Columbus, Ohio [May 22, 2007] - Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR) and the global leader in enabling Business-Critical Continuity(TM), today introduced Liebert Nform 2.0, a network-based management system supporting centralized, real-time monitoring of IT support equipment. Liebert Nform 2.0 features a new desktop dashboard that gives IT managers a snapshot of the entire IT support systems, streamlining and simplifying support system management.

Liebert Nform provides a centralized monitoring view from distributed support equipment by utilizing an Ethernet network that uses SNMP (simple network management protocol) and web technologies to deliver and manage important alarms on most any cooling or power system; thereby ensuring the infrastructure is maintained and available to support and protect IT systems. The network communications software is installed on a single workstation and can be configured to monitor SNMP-enabled power protection and precision cooling equipment. Liebert offers a family of interface cards that allow a wide variety of support systems - including equipment from other manufacturers - to be monitored by Liebert Nform.

"IT systems are dependent on a network of support systems for their availability and reliability," said Abraham Hinojosa, Liebert monitoring product manager for Emerson Network Power. "A power quality or environment problem at any point along the network can have serious consequences for the business. Liebert Nform 2.0 is a powerful tool that simplifies alarm management using the existing network to enable fast, often proactive, response to many conditions that threaten IT system availability."

The desktop interface of Liebert Nform 2.0 provides a visual summary of the entire system of distributed, managed critical devices, as well as easy access to key configuration features. Large status icons display a total count of devices in each status category: Normal, Alarms Present and No Response. Clicking a status icon produces a list of all managed devices in the selected status category in the same window. IT managers can sort the list by device name, address or type. Function buttons display various types of device data in the same window, including alarm management, notification updates, device diagnostics, parametric data and network statistics for performance management. IT managers can print the data or save it to a text file.

Other new features of Liebert Nform 2.0 are listed below.

Notification Updates offer a detailed report of the status of notifications attempted as a result of alarms. The updates allow resources to respond accordingly, removing the redundancy of alarm reaction.

Device Diagnostics Reports provide detailed information on the overall state of monitored equipment and all its interfaces, allowing quicker response to problems.

Alarm Filtering sorts through numerous alarms to ensure critical alarm events that need some sort of immediate response are forwarded to the network management system.

Auto Discovery simplifies the start-up and setup of new devices on the network by using the settings from the device as the default settings in Liebert Nform.

Device Support expanded to now include Alber Battery Monitoring BDS40, BDS256, Liebert DS with iCom, Liebert vEM-14 and Liebert MP devices.
