Eaton Introduces the New Cuttler-Hammer CM52 Network Protector

PITTSBURGH, PA...Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation recently introduced the newest member of its Cutler-Hammer line of network protectors, the CM52. The CM52 is UL-qualified, meaning easier code approval for quicker system start-up and less approval time and cost in a non-utility environment.

Designed to handle ratings from 800 - 6200 amps, 216 - 600 volts, this new network protector features an electrically-operated, composite case, spring-closed air network circuit breaker controlled by the Cutler-Hammer MPCV network relay. The CM52 meets or exceeds standards in IEEE C57.1244.

"The CM52 is designed to provide peak performance with little or no maintenance," said Alan Larson, product line manager. "It requires no adjustments, its color-coded wiring and front accessible test switch make it easy to troubleshoot and diagnostics are built into the Voltage Regulator Drive (VRD).

"The new CM52 makes maintenance easier, decreasing protector downtime. This saves our customers money and increases overall system reliability," Larson added.

The CM52 boasts higher interrupting and fault close ratings than existing protector models, while cutting overall weight by half. A four-position, draw-out, dead-front circuit breaker makes testing quick and safe. The dead front increases worker safety, drastically reducing the possibility of live electricity accidents during inspection.
