With network cards, Citizen Printers can be managed remotely, providing up-to-the-minute diagnostics information. Day-to-day issues, such as out of media or ribbon notifications, can be configured so that email messages are displayed locally for warehouse staff, while major issues, including IT problems, can be communicated remotely to specific members of staff, such as network managers. Also available, Compact Ethernet card supports TCP/IP printing and web configuration.

Citizen Adds a Range of New Features to its Barcode Line-Up
Citizen Systems Europe, the leading manufacturer of label, barcode, portable and POS printers, has developed its existing range of network cards to add new and advanced remote control functionality for its market leading printers.
The new features allow Citizen printers to be managed remotely, providing up to the minute diagnostics information, and can easily be set up and managed via an integrated web page. Day-to-day issues, such as out of media or ribbon notifications, can be configured so that email messages are displayed locally for warehouse staff to action, while major issues, including IT problems, can be communicated remotely to specific members of staff, such as network or communication's managers.
The network cards are quick and easy to install into Citizen's label and barcode printers. This internal installation, even on the desktop printers, avoids the problems of accidental damage, for example preventing them from being knocked or by power supplies being accidentally disconnected.
To complement the high-performance network cards, a new Compact Ethernet card has also been launched, which supports TCP/IP printing and easy web configuration, making it ideal for general office use or easy-to-manage network systems.
Citizen is also now providing a range of other features for its label printer range. These include an integrated BASIC interpreter that allow programs to be written and stored in the printer, making integration within specialist environments that much easier. The interpreter works in conjunction with the on-board Datamax® and Zebra® programming languages.
Additionally, its core printer range now fully supports Unicode character sets and the CL-S700 models have multilingual, customisable LCD control panels supporting a wide range of languages and character sets.
These features will be available on new printers and, where applicable, by upgrading the software in existing printers via their original reseller or distributor.
