Solartron Metrology Offers Network Card for Systems Integrators Working with PC 104

Orbit® PC 104+ Network Controller Card for Digital Probes and Other Devices

BOGNOR REGIS, WEST SUSSEX, ENGLAND-The Orbit® 104+ Network Controller Card from Solartron Metrology was developed to provide users of industrial control systems with stackable PC104 architecture a convenient way to connect Solartron digital probes and other Orbit-based devices.

The network card is suitable for connecting all Solartron Metrology inductive and optical transducers. The two-channel device is able to interface up to 62 digital probes or sensing modules, while the Orbit® software protocol is able to control up to 6 Orbit® PC104+ cards. The PC104+ card can be added to a system without requiring special slots, such as the case with PCI and ISA cards.

The Orbit software protocol allows for notification and identification of the various modules attached to the PC104+ card. Each sensing module is individually identified, and each Orbit digital probe is a traceable device that carries its own unique identity and calibration parameters.

Orbit®-based devices can be networked together into a highly versatile plug-and-go measurement system. The Orbit® Network is able to host a variety of third-part sensors in addition to interfacing with other Solartron products, providing a complete dimensional measurement and data acquisition system.

Solartron Metrology is a unit of AMETEK, Inc., a leading diversified manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices with annualized sales of more than $1.8 billion.
