August 17, 2009 - Housed in 6.0 x 6.0 x 1.5 mm SMD power package, 1 W Little StarŪ VLMW711T3U2US offers thermal resistance of 10 K/W, luminous flux from 76,500-929,400 mlm, and optical efficiency of 60 lm/W. Unit features 60° half-intensity angle and 120° viewing angle. Designed for high current drive up to 350 mA, LED withstands ESD up to 2 kV. Typical applications include street lighting, indoor/outdoor lamps, automotive lights, household appliances, and portable electronic devices.

Vishay Releases New 1-W Natural White Little StarŪ LED in SMD Power Package


High-Brightness Device Offers Low Thermal Resistance of 10 K/W, High Luminous Intensity of 25,000 mcd Typical, and High Luminous Flux From 76,500 mlm to 99,400 mlm

MALVERN, Pa. - June 12, 2009 - Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today expanded its Little StarŪ family of SMD power LEDs with a new automotive-qualified, 1-W natural white device that combines extraordinarily high brightness with a compact package outline. Utilizing InGaN technology, the VLMW711T3U2US LED offers a low thermal resistance of 10 K/W and high luminous intensity for a wide range of applications.

Featuring an SMD power package with a compact 6.0-mm by 6.0-mm footprint and ultra-low profile of 1.5 mm, Vishay's new Little Star LED is among the most robust and light-efficient products on the market. The VLMW711T3U2US is designed for a high current drive of up to 350 mA, and offers extremely bright luminous intensity of 25,000 mcd typical. The device features an optical efficiency of 60 lm/W and a typical luminous flux of 80 lm to 85 lm.

The new LED is optimized for general lighting, consumer, and general applications with a high luminous flux requirement, and as an alternative to incandescent lamps. Typical end products will include street lighting, architectural lighting, indoor and outdoor lamps, and general illumination; automotive applications such as daytime running lights, interior lighting, fog lights, and rear mirror lighting; and household appliances and portable electronic devices.

The VLMW711T3U2US features a 60° half-intensity angle and 120° viewing angle, and is compatible with IR-reflow solder processes. The LED is automotive qualified to AEC-Q101 and complies with RoHS 2002/95/EC and WEEE 2002/96/EC. Preconditioned according to JEDEC moisture sensitivity Level 2a standards, the Little Star package is lead (Pb)-free and RoHS-compliant. The device withstands ESD up to 2 kV in accordance with JESD22-A114-B.
