August 4, 2011 - Installed in system piping, Model MJC simultaneously operates small number of sprinklers or spray nozzles. Unidirectional inline valve includes 3 mm or 5 mm glass bulb and offers temperature ratings up to 286°F and 500°F, respectively. Bulb is pre-loaded to hold sealing spring assembly against valve's inlet seat, providing water and air tight seal. When bulb breaks, sealing mechanism is released, allowing water to flow through MJC to downstream piping.

Viking Introduces LPCB Approved Multiple Jet Control Valve

Hastings, MI, USA - Viking Corporation, a global leader in fire protection and life safety systems, has introduced a new Multiple Jet Control (MJC) valve for use in sprinkler or water spray systems. The new MJC, which is a unidirectional inline valve, is installed in the system piping and is used to simultaneously operate a small number of sprinklers or spray nozzles.

Viking's new MJC includes either a 3 mm or 5 mm glass bulb, in various temperature ratings. The glass bulb is pre-loaded at the factory to hold a sealing spring assembly against the valve's inlet seat, providing a water and air tight seal. When the glass bulb breaks, the sealing mechanism is released allowing water to flow through the MJC to the downstream piping. The MJC is also available with an optional Metron device for electrical actuation. When an electrical current is applied to the actuator, a piston is propelled from the Metron body, breaking the glass bulb. The Metron actuator is optimal when a manual release of the MJC is required.

By controlling the flow of water to a limited number of sprinklers or spray nozzles, the function of the MJC is similar to a small deluge valve installed in the system piping. The MJC can be installed in any orientation (upright, pendent, or horizontal sidewall). Potential applications include industrial ovens, chimneys, elevator pits, cable trays, wet benches, and loading areas. The standard finish is brass and the MJC is not intended for use in corrosive environments. Temperature ratings are available up to 500°F (260°C) for MJCs with a 5 mm glass bulb and up to 286°F (141°C) for the 3 mm glass bulb.
