Fujitsu Now Shipping MB86L11, Second Multimode, Multiband LTE Transceiver Chip for 2G/3G/4G

Fujitsu Plans LTE Advanced Single IC Samples in 2013

TEMPE, Ariz., -- Fujitsu Semiconductor Wireless Products, Inc. (FSWP) today announced that its second LTE multimode product, the MB86L11 2G/3G/4G transceiver, is shipping in commercial quantities. The MB86L11 is a single chip multiband, multimode transceiver that supports all wireless communication modes including LTE (FDD & TDD), HSPA+, DC-HSPA, WCDMA, GSM, EDGE, CDMA and TD-SCDMA. The MB86L11 transceiver incorporates many advanced features, including envelope tracking (ET) and antenna tuning (AT). The Fujitsu MB86L11 appeals to customers with its low power architecture and reduced part count for mobile devices. The product has already been utilized in a number of commercial applications beginning in September, 2012, giving it a proven track record of supporting multimode, multiband devices with a single IC.

"Fujitsu's RF team continues to deliver world-class multimode multiband RF transceivers and later this year will begin offering single IC solutions supporting LTE-Advanced mode (MB86L30) in industry-leading area and footprint dimensions," said Vivek Bhan, Executive Vice President. "The LTE-Advanced RFIC utilizes an innovative architecture to cover 3GPP Release 10 & 11 features while minimizing total system size, cost and power consumption in complex MIMO-enabled devices."

Fujitsu was one of the first device manufacturers to introduce transceivers supporting LTE. Fujitsu's first 2G/3G/4G(LTE) transceiver (MB86L10) was sampled in late 2009 and has been shipping in commercial products such as smartphones, tablets and portable dongles since the second quarter of  2010.

Fujitsu's LTE-focused multiband transceivers have been certified in multiple regions with multiple operators. These transceivers are deployed by multiple baseband providersworldwide, because  they support the entire frequency range of 700 to 2700 MHz, function in all modes of operation, and support a high number of simultaneous bands and modes in a single product configuration, covering almost any operator's needs for domestic use and global roaming.

Fujitsu has been shipping its earlier generation 2G/3G transceiver (MB86L01) since 2009 in smartphones, tablets and dongles.  The MB86L01A was the industry's first commercial solution eliminating the need for interstage SAWs and LNAs for 3G, and paved the way towards SAW-less LTE transceivers.
