Designed to replace functionality of previous AS-i Safety monitors, Sirius Modular Safety System (MSS) ASIsafe basic and MSS ASIsafe extended safety monitors consist of central modules of safety system Sirius 3RK3 that come with diverse enabling circuits and inputs. Available inputs and outputs can be adjusted using expansion modules or AS-Interface, and interface module also enables transmission of diagnostic and status data to higher-level Profibus network.

Modular Safety System with More Inputs and Enabling Circuits at the AS-i Bus
Nuremberg, Germany. The Siemens Industry Automation Division is extending its Sirius Modular Safety System (MSS) ASIsafe range of safety monitors to include the MSS ASIsafe basic und MSS ASIsafe extended.
The new central modules ASIsafe basic and ASIsafe extended of the modular safety system Sirius 3RK3 are the latest addition to the MSS portfolio, and will replace the functionality of the previous AS-i Safety monitors. The new devices come with a higher number of enabling circuits and inputs. The available inputs and outputs can be flexibly adjusted using expansion modules or an AS-Interface, allowing the quantity structure to be adjusted to the relevant application at any time. An interface module also enables the transmission of diagnostic and status data to a higher-level Profibus network. The MSS ES parameterization software is a central component of the system and offers fast, easy parameter assignment of safety functions as well as comprehensive diagnostics options.
