Hanover Industrial Trade Fair 2010: Advanced I/O System 1000 Now Available

High degree of cost-effectiveness thanks to modularity and intelligent electronics & mechanical concept

Hamelin/Hanover --- The enhancements to the new modular Lenze I/O system, L-force Controls I/O System 1000, which were presented back in autumn 2009 are now available. Amongst the new modules incorporated into the product range are units for connecting thermocouples as well as modules which provide counters and relays or an SSI interface. The I/O system 1000 thus ranks amongst the most effective and state-of-the-art decentralised I/O systems available on today's market. Applications in the field indicate that systems provided by the Hamelin-based specialist in drive and automation technology are able to significantly reduce costs associated with the manufacturing, commissioning and maintenance of machines and systems.

The existing large selection of I/O compound modules for connecting digital and analog signals has been completed off: As such, a module with two (EPM-S306) or four (EPM-S309) digital outputs is now available, with each of these being able to supply a current of 2 A. As is the case with all other signal and function modules of the I/O system 1000, the connection levels and electronics of these modules are designed in an isolated and modular manner. Should maintenance work be required, the electronic parts of the module, which are just 12.5 mm wide, can be replaced in no time at all, without actually having to change any wiring. This means that concerns regarding field wiring are now a thing of the past. The stepped shape of the connection level with tension spring terminals and permanent wiring as well as the block diagram which is printed on both the front and rear side of the housing facilitate wiring and help to prevent connection errors during the installation.

In addition to this, the range of digital output modules has been extended to include a module with two integrated relays (DC 30 V / AC 230 V, 5 A).

New products are now also available in the field of function modules. In addition to the module for connecting thermal resistors, a module for thermocouples (J, K, N, R, S, T, B, C, E, L) is now also available. What's more, the Hamelin-based automation specialist's product range now features counter modules and a module for evaluating encoders with an SSI interface. Furthermore, new additions to the Lenze range include a diverse range of modules for supplying sensors or actuators with current as well as supplying the sensor /actuator level of separate electronic modules.

With this range of enhancements, the I/O system 1000 is continuing to establish itself as one of the most flexible and advanced decentralised I/O systems. Virtually all decentralised automation tasks can be realised in a simple and cost-effective manner.
