FS-Elliott Introduces Easy-to-Operate Regulus® Modular Control System

Jeannette, PA (September 21, 2004) – FS-Elliott introduces the Regulus®, an affordably priced programmable logic controller (PLC) based modular control system that tempers leading technology with ease-of-use. The Regulus® allows plant services to monitor and control their Engineered Air systems from anywhere in the world. It utilizes a color graphical touch screen human machine interface (HMI) which features control adaptability, multi-functionality and increased energy efficiency. “The Regulus® was designed with the end-user’s needs in mind,” says Ed Klimek, FS-Elliott Senior Controls Engineer, “Not only is it affordably priced, but it also has several advanced design features and is extremely energy efficient.”

FS-Elliott is a new company, formed when Fu Sheng Industrial Company acquired the compressor division of Elliott Turbomachinery Company. FS-Elliott focuses exclusively on the design, manufacture, maintenance and servicing of air compressors. Their optimized Engineered Air solutions are utilized for applications ranging from automotive manufacturing, food & beverage processing, and pharmaceutical manufacturing to the API 672 applications in oil refining, petrochemicals, and oil and gas production and processing.

Leading Technology and Ease-of-Use

Although the Regulus® is a technologically advanced control and monitoring system, it provides unique ease-of-use. The control system features an easy-to-operate touch screen with a graphic color display. Operators view easy-to-understand graphics while monitoring the plant Engineered Air systems.

Control Adaptability

The Regulus® also provides easy adjustment of set-points and control mode changes using the touch screen. These highly flexible controls are fully adaptive, changing to meet specific user needs.

Multi-functionality

In addition to control and monitoring, the Regulus® also stores and logs operating data, used for trend monitoring and preventive maintenance. Operating data can be extremely valuable to plant operations, helping plant engineers immediately pinpoint and even avert problems. This feature allows plant engineers to monitor and predict trends in Engineered Air systems and act before problems arise. Extended monitoring of vital parameters is important for equipment protection, saving money in maintenance and avoiding repairs.

Energy Efficiency

Successfully field-tested, the Regulus® features an energy efficient system. Operation closer to surge lines saves power and minimizes wasteful unloading, while lower set-points and precise control minimizes energy usage. In addition, the Regulus® makes more efficient use of plant manpower. With its easy-to-use remote control and monitoring capabilities, the Regulus® reduces the tasks of operators, allowing them to shift focus to other plant responsibilities.
