Solar Develops Titan(TM) 130 14.9 MW Mobile Power Package



ORLANDO, FLORIDA, USA (1 December 2004) - Solar Turbines Incorporated today announced the availability of the Titan(TM) 130 Mobile Power Unit to address the demand for peaking power. "The world demand for power is growing and supply is constrained. The Titan 130 Mobile Power Unit provides power to optimize service for seasonal or cyclical loads," said Jack Hawley, Director of Power Generation Marketing for Solar Turbines. "Gas turbines represent a proven technology that can be easily deployed. We're very excited about this opportunity to provide customers with reliable, low-cost, on-site peaking power that will meet the need for short-term capacity and reduce exposure to market price spikes or system capacity constraints," he added.

The Titan 130 Mobile Power Unit is a trailer-mounted system that is highway transportable and easy to install and relocate, making it ideal for rental fleets and utility equipment pools. The compact footprint minimizes the space requirements at substations or commercial/industrial facilities. It comes standard with low emissions, state-of-the-art, SoLoNOx(TM) dry low NOx combustion system technology, making it environmentally friendly and easy to permit.

At the core of the Mobile Power Unit is the proven and recently uprated 14.9 MW Titan 130 industrial gas turbine, which has an installed population of over 130 units around the world, providing power for cogeneration, base load, distributed and standby applications. The Titan 130 Mobile Power Unit combines the features and benefits of the proven Titan 130 generator set with a mobile, easy-to-relocate and connect system.

The Titan 130 Mobile Power Unit is dispatchable to be on line in six minutes from cold start. A dual fuel combustion system provides the flexibility of operating on either natural gas or diesel fuel. It features a range of control system options for remote operation and SCADA integration, as well as KVAR control for excellent reactive power capability.
