December 13, 2010 - Featuring integrated controller, thermoMETER CSlaser is available as 8-14 µm SF version with measuring range from -50 to 975°C for general tasks, and as 1.6 µm M-2 model with range of 385-1,600°C for applications in metalworking industry. Two-beam laser aiming feature marks actual spot size at any distance, eliminating faulty measurements on small objects. Capable of measuring at distances up to 150 mm, sensor has scalable 4-20 mA 2-wire analog output and alarm output.

Miniature Infrared Sensor with Laser Aiming


Just in time for the Electronica event in Munich, Micro-Epsilon has launched a new miniature infrared sensor with an integrated controller. The thermoMETER CSlaser has a two-beam laser aiming feature, which marks the actual spot size at any distance. This means that faulty measurements on small objects are avoided. The controller, which is often also required, is not necessary with this model, because the controller is alreadyintegrated into the sensor. This represents a major technical advantage, especially where space is limited. The sensor can be optimised for specific measurement tasks by using different lenses. Objects of 0.5mm in size can be measured reliably at a distance of 150mm from the sensor. The CSlaser is available as an SF version (8 to 14µm) with a measuring range between -50°C and 975°C for general tasks, and as M-2 (1.6µm) with a range of 385°C to 1,600°C for applications in the metalworking industry.

For signal output, the CSlaser has a scalable 4 to 20mA two-wire analogue output. Connection via a USB adapter is also available as an option. In addition, the CSlaser offers an alarm output, something that is not very common in two-wire temperature sensors. The emissivity, which is set independently of the object being measured, is selected either directly on the sensor or by software.
