September 11, 2007 - Featuring FirstFlash(TM) technology, IS4910 captures hi-res barcode image in one flash, regardless of lighting conditions or orientation, for OEM bar code scanning and image-capture applications. Wide-angle lens promotes optimal area coverage and allows for omnidirectional performance. Using SwiftDecoder(TM) software, imager can decode 1D codes as dense as 4 mil and 2D codes as dense as 10 mil as well as read application-specific OCR fonts such as those found on passports and checks.

Metrologic Launches IS4910: First in Series of High-Performance Miniature Mega-Pixel Imaging Engines

Metrologic Instruments, Inc. today announced the launch of the IS4910, the first in a line of miniature mega-pixel imaging engines designed to provide unmatched bar code scanning performance to the OEM market. The IS4900 series maximizes productivity and efficiency with a set of features specifically engineered for devices such as payment terminals, ATM machines, PDAs, PDTs, tablet PCs, price-check kiosks, lottery terminals and medical/diagnostic instruments.

Blackwood, New Jersey -- August 8, 2007 -- Metrologic Instruments, Inc. today announced the launch of the IS4910, the first in a line of miniature mega-pixel imaging engines designed to provide unmatched bar code scanning performance to the OEM market. The IS4900 series maximizes productivity and efficiency with a set of features specifically engineered for devices such as payment terminals, ATM machines, PDAs, PDTs, tablet PCs, price-check kiosks, lottery terminals and medical/diagnostic instruments.

"The IS4900 series signifies Metrologic's continuous commitment to providing high-performance, flexible and easy-to-integrate solutions to OEM customers," said Mark Schmidt, vice president of marketing. "The 4910's high-resolution capability and industry-standard form factor make it ideal for most OEM bar code scanning and image-capture applications."

In a single flash, the IS4910 captures a high-resolution image regardless of lighting conditions or bar code orientation thanks to a 1.2-mega-pixel CMOS sensor and patented FirstFlash(TM) technology. The IS4910 also employs a wide-angle lens design which covers twice the scan area of competing products, and gives the engine the ability to deliver a true omnidirectional performance even when scanning large bar codes.

These features combined with SwiftDecoder(TM) software from Omniplanar(TM) enable integrated devices to decode the widest range of bar code symbologies at the industry's highest rates for speed and accuracy. With SwiftDecoder, the IS4910 can decode 1D codes as dense as four mil (0.102 mm) and 2D codes as dense as 10 mil (0.254 mm) as well as read application specific optical-character-recognition (OCR) fonts such as those found on passports and checks. Images captured by the IS4910 are also suitable for archiving and analysis.

With the industry's lowest operating current as well as a power-save mode, the IS4910 extends battery life by keeping energy consumption to a minimum. Metrologic also supplies a software development kit to facilitate integration and development of customer applications.

Metrologic expects to release a fully decoded version of the IS4910 later this year. For more information, please visit metrologic.com/IS4910.
