Both WADE-8071 and WADE-8170 feature one 200-pin DIMM to support single channel DDR2 SDRAM up to 2GB; dual independent display by VGA/LVDS (WADE-8071) and by VGA/LVDS/DVI (WADE-817O); expansion via one PCI-E x1 slot (WADE-8071) and one PCI and one PCI-E x1 slot via riser card (WADE-8170); one Gigabit Ethernet (WADE-8071) and two Gigabit Ethernet (WADE-8170); one compact flash; three COM ports an d eight USB ports (WADE-8071) and two COM ports and eight USB ports (WADE-8170); built-in DC input of 12V for WADE-8071 and 12V-24V for WADE-8170; and support for Windows® XP Embedded, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows CE and Linux® operating systems.

Available now, the WADE-8071 and WADE-8170 Mini-ITX embedded system boards benefit a range of low-power systems and small form factor and hand-held mobile devices in applications such as medical equipment, healthcare automation, gaming machines as well as digital signage, POS, retail automation, battery-operated devices, industrial process control, media servers, VoIP, COTS military and thin client.

Low power and built-in DC-DC solution
"We realize that there are many small form factor boards in the market," says Jimmy Chang, American Portwell Technology's product marketing manager, "but we believe the new WADE-8071 and WADE-8170 stand out from the crowd. By utilizing Intel Atom N270 processor we have reduced the power consumption of these devices significantly. Moreover, the built-in 12V DC for the WADE-8071 and 12V-24V DC for the WADE-8170 simplify the use of external power supply," he adds. "This makes the WADE-8071 and WADE-8170 a perfect choice for a wide range of mobile embedded computing applications."

Low profile and long product life cycle
Frank Shen, American Portwell Technology's product marketing director confirms that by engineering the WADE-8071 to be a mere 20mm high, Portwell has ensured that it is the ideal solution for today's low profile systems. "What's more," Shen adds, "when you add in LVDS and DVI panel support to standard VGA and the long life cycle support inherent with every Portwell product, the new WADE-8071 and WADE-8170 are also the perfect solutions for any embedded application that requires dual panel display on a comprehensive range of today's popular operating systems."
