Giga-tronics Announces Microwave Signal Generator Application Software for EW Signal Simulation

SAN RAMON, Calif. - October 8th, 2009 -- Giga-tronics (NASDAQ:GIGA) announced today Automation Xpress (AX) application software for EW signal simulation using the new 2400C and 2500B series of Fast-Switching Microwave Signal Generators. The new 2400C and 2500B model Microwave Signal Generators, covering 100 kHz to 50 GHz, are fast switching and low phase noise, ideal for EW signal simulation. With Automation Xpress (AX) software, test engineers and managers can quickly and easily create a variety of test signals including antenna scan modulation. Automation Xpress (AX) working in the PC environment provides easy setup of signal simulation scenarios for testing EW radar, Elint systems and other defense receivers. Figure 1 shows the Automation Xpress (AX) user interface for a typical radar antenna scan signal simulation using the list mode editor.

Malcolm Levy, Vice-President of Sales and Marketing, said "The 2400C and 2500B microwave signal generators with Automation Xpress software were specifically designed for EW signal simulation applications, where frequency agility and low phase noise and low spurious are critical, but at a cost significantly less than the direct-analog synthesizers typically used in these applications."

Automation Xpress is included with the new 2400C and 2500B model Microwave Signal Generators, enhancing the ability to control and configure the signal generators to address their specific needs. AX enables easy downloads of complex lists and setup and modification of parameters, all in a familiar windows-based application. A comprehensive list mode, command-line interpreter with script and loop capability, and an auto-programming capability are just a few of the features that test system programmers will appreciate when developing and debugging Test Program Sets.

Giga-tronics is much more than a test and measurement instrument vendor. Being a manufacturer with decades of experience in signal switching and routing (switch cards and switching solutions from DC to 40 GHz) and microwave components (YIG oscillators, filters and sub-assemblies) as well, it is uniquely positioned to apply a wide variety of tailored sub-system products and solutions. Giga-tronics has AS9100 and ISO 9001 certification, meeting stringent defense industry quality requirements. Giga-tronics products are proudly made in the USA.
