Leica Microsystems Inc. Introduces a New Glycerol Objective for Confocal Microscopy

Leica Microsystems is pleased to introduce a new microscope objective, optimized for confocal microscopy and depth imaging of glycerol-embedded specimens.

The new Leica PL APO 63x 1.3 Glycerol HCX CS (Confocal Scanning) offers extraordinary imaging performance on and below the surface of specimens matching closely the refractive index of glycerol, such as histological specimens.

With a better refractive index match than water or oil immersion objectives, spherical aberrations are kept to a minimum. As a result, outstanding high resolution is obtained on and below the surface of the samples. The extra long working distance of 280 micrometers enables high penetration.

Apochromatic confocal scanning correction assures perfect registration of focal planes and fluorescence emissions across the visible spectrum. With the new glycerol objective, Leica Microsystems sets a new standard for imaging performance and data quality in confocal microscopy.
