Single-Wire SensorPathâ„¢ Digital Output Temperature Sensor from TI Offers High Accuracy in Micro Package

DALLAS (April 14, 2005) – Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) today announced a 10-bit resolution digital output temperature sensor with single-wire SensorPath™ interface protocol. The TMP141, from the company’s Burr-Brown product line, can measure temperature without any external sensing components. Its small package size is a good fit for space restricted applications. Additionally, the device’s low operating current of 170uA (max) makes it ideal for supervisory systems in servers and personal computers. (See www.ti.com/sc05091.)

The TMP141 operates over a wide temperature range of -40°C to 125°C with typical accuracy of 0.25°C. It also features an extended supply range of 2.7V to 5.5V. The single-wire protocol of the TMP141 makes it immune to system-generated noise and the micro-size SOT23 package allows easier placement and routing than most digital output temperature sensors currently found in high-performance computing.

In addition to monitoring hardware systems in servers and personal computers, the TMP141 is ideal for industrial electronics, temperature measurement, battery-powered instruments and test equipment applications. It also offers a viable solution for applications with limited wiring restrictions.

Available Today

The TMP141 is available now in SOT23-6 and MSOP-8 and packages. It is priced at $0.65 in 1,000 piece quantities (suggested resale pricing) and is available from TI and its authorized distributors.
