Thales Computers Introduces PMC-DAADIO Multi-Function Digital/Analog I/O Board

Raleigh, NC, January 2003 – Thales Computers, a leader in providing PowerPC and Pentium-based VME computing solutions to OEMs and system integrators, introduces the PMC-DAADIO, a new multi-function PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC) that provides high-speed digital and analog I/O for controlling and monitoring a wide range of external functions.

The new PMC-DAADIO incorporates an onboard Motorola DSP56F807 Digital Signal Processor, enabling it to manage a variety of external I/O-intensive applications while minimizing demands on the processing capability of the PMC host. The new board provides eight differential analog input channels, as well as eight single-ended analog outputs, all operating at 12-bit resolution, in addition to 18 TTL digital I/O lines and counter/timer I/O.

The new board is ideal for applications requiring intensive digital and analog I/O in harsh environments, such as digital radio, fire control systems, system monitoring, and closed-loop control systems. The conduction-cooled version of the new PMC-DAADIO features outstanding resistance to shock and vibration making this version especially well suited for mobile applications. In addition, the PMC-DAADIO’s differential inputs provide a high-level of noise immunity and exceptional common mode rejection, ensuring accuracy even in noisy, high-interference environments.

Product Details

The features of the PMC-DAADIO multi-function I/O PMC include:

• Onboard Motorola DSP56F807 Digital Signal Processor with shared memory interface

• Flash EPROM (1M x 16-bit) enabling autonomous operation of PMC

• On Chip Emulator (OnCE) port for loading and debugging software

• Dual 4-channel analog-to-digital converter

• Octal digital-to-analog converter

• PLX9030 PCI target interface

• 8 differential 12-bit input channels

• Eight single-ended analog outputs

• 18 general-purpose TTL digital I/O lines

• Ruggedization levels:

SA (Industrial grade): 0°C to +70°C (32°F to 158°F)

RA (Rugged grade): -40°C to +85°C (-40°F to 185°F)

RC (Militarized): -40°C to +85°C (-40°F to 185°F), conduction-cooled

The PMC to PCI interface on the PMC-DAADIO is a 32-bit, 33 MHz PLX9030 PCI target interface with memory-mapped I/O that supports 3V and 5V signaling levels.

The new PMC-DAADIO is available immediately; pricing starts at $995 with six weeks delivery time depending on the ruggedization level. Custom programming by Thales Computers is available for specific applications.
