January 31, 2013 - Based on high-speed acquisition laser scanner attached to multi-axes robot wrist, X4 i-Robot provides measuring accuracy independent of robot's positioning precision and based on device. Robot motions are always synchronized with measurements and robot trajectory is entirely controlled by Metrolog X4 part program. With typical overall absolute accuracy of 100 Ám, system is suited for automotive, aerospace, and their sub-contractors for manufacturing lines metrology control.

Press release date: January 28, 2013

Metrologic Group announces new software breakthrough suitable for all industrial robots that can provide a true production metrology solution, accurate, reliable and flexible. The X4 i-Robot is perfectly suited for applications requiring flexibility and productivity while providing high metrological accuracy including some very specific capabilities
  • Measuring accuracy fully independent of robot's positioning precision and based on device.
  • Robot motions are always perfectly synchronized with measurements.
  • Robot trajectory entirely controlled by a simple, easy to create and update Metrolog X4 part program.
The X4 i-Robot measuring system is based on a high speed acquisition laser scanner attached to a multi-axes robot wrist. The robot, of any type or brand, without specific accuracy, behaves as a simple tool holder and positioner while the measuring accuracy is provided, either by a separate tracking camera following the laser sensor box equipped with positioning LEDs, or by a laser tracker system. Typical overall absolute accuracy: 100Ám. The main applications can be found in the automotive, aerospace and their sub-contractors for the manufacturing lines metrology control.

Metrologic Group is a world Metrology software frontrunner, specialized in the design and development of industry-leading 3D inspection software solutions, associated electronics and integration services.

The renowned Metrolog 3D Inspection software is already implemented as a standard by many major companies in the automotive, aerospace and other industries to optimize and improve capabilities of their exiting 3D measuring systems. Our direct device interfaces include full integration to any existing measuring system, laser trackers, laser radars, portable arms and other measuring devices. The power of Metrolog allows you to acquire data, analyze and graphically report any type of 3D measurements of any parts including full GD&T analysis based on discrete data sets to large point clouds.
