October 26, 2009 - With operating voltage up to 510 Vac, surface mount SM7 Series provides over-voltage protection and transient suppression, and is designed for continuous operation across AC power lines. RoHS-compliant device is based on radial 7 mm internal varistor element and is housed in nylon molded package with tin-plated terminal. Operating at ambient temperatures up to 85°C with peak pulse current of 1,200 A, unit is suitable for AC power meters, detectors and sensors, plug-in cards, and remote controls.

Littelfuse New SM7 Series Surface Mount MOV Provides Both Overvoltage Protection and Transient Suppression with Wide Operating Voltage up to 510 VAC


Its surface mount packaging, reflow solderability, high operating voltage and halogen-free features make it incomparable to other offerings in the market

CHICAGO, Illinois, October 12, 2009 - Littelfuse, Inc. (NASDAQ/NGS:LFUS), ) announces today the introduction of SM7 Series surface mount MOV for over-voltage protection and transient suppression. It is designed for continuous operation across AC power lines and is highly suitable for AC power meters, detectors & sensors, plug-in cards and remote controllers.

"Featured with wide operating voltage up to 510 VAC, SM7 Series provides the highest operating voltage among other similar offerings in the market," explained Dave Lesperance, Director of Ceremic and Polymer Products Business of Littelfuse Inc. "On top of being lead-free and RoHS compliant, it is also Halogen-free which is not available in other similar offerings."

"Reflow solderability is another key feature of this new product," added Dave. "SM7 is a plastic-encapsulated surface mount MOV in a nylon molded package with tin-plated terminal which is fully qualified in lead-free and SnPb soldering and available for both reflow and wave soldering process." SM7 is based on radial 7mm internal varistor element. Its operating ambient temperature is high as 85°C with peak pulse current of 1200A. SM7 Series is also UL recognized and has UL agency approval under UL 1449 edition 3.
