Metal Fastener eliminates need for predrilled hole.
April 16, 2004 - Self-piercing Twist-Tack™ attaches materials such as rubber, plastic, and thin-gauge aluminum to steel tubing, aluminum extrusion, or lightweight metal castings in one step. It punches hole in attachment and forms anchor cone in base metal. Fastening takes place when knurled section engages anchor cone with cutting, twisting, and wedging motion. Fastener achieves hundreds of pounds of withdrawal resistance when applied with compression riveter, single-impact air tool, or bench press.

Amtak Fasteners Announces Introduction of Revolutionary Twist-Tack™
EAST PROVIDENCE, RI, March 23, 2004 -- Amtak Fasteners announces the introduction of its self-piercing Twist-Tack™ metal fastener. The one-step fasteners attach materials such as rubber, plastic and thin gauge aluminum to steel tubing, aluminum extrusion or lightweight metal castings. The Twist-Tack™ achieves hundreds of pounds of withdrawal resistance when applied with a compression riveter, a single impact air tool or Amtak Bench Press.
The patent-pending Twist-Tacks fasten quickly because they do not require a predrilled hole in either the attachment or the base metal. The fastener first punches a hole in the attachment and then forms an anchor cone in the base metal. Fastening takes place when the knurled section of the fastener engages the anchor cone with a cutting, twisting and wedging motion.
“We are seeing a lot of interest in the Twist-Tack™ from manufacturers who are using tubing in their products, such as ladders, outdoor furniture and signs,” said David Ashton, Vice President of Sales, Amtak Fasteners.
Amtak, a Division of Gripnail Corporation, has over thirty years experience in fastening to the surface of metal. Its unique fasteners include Metal-Tacks, Punch-Pins and Gripnails, which attach light loads such as nameplates, small components and insulation.
