RealNetworks Releases New Version of Helix Producer

RealNetworks upgrades Helix Producer to include IP ingest

AMSTERDAM -- RealNetworks, Inc. (Nasdaq: RNWK) today announced a new version of Helix Producer, part of the Helix Media Delivery Platform, that includes IP ingest, as well as batch encoding, logo and text overlay and rolling archives. Private and government organizations will be able to take advantage of the scalability, reliability and lower total cost of ownership that Helix Producer offers for a variety of mission-critical solutions and functions - including streaming live footage to citizens via traffic cameras and using it for security purposes.

With IP ingest, organizations can capture both RTSP (IP surveillance or streaming service) and MPEG2-TS (digital cable TV or satellite) streams, and transcode the content to deliver to multi-screens, including PCs, mobile devices and tablets. Helix Producer automatically changes the codec by reducing the screen size and preparing multi-formats, thereby reducing the amount of manual labor required.

The latest version of Helix Producer with IP ingest is also able to accommodate multiple video inputs per density on a single datacenter server enabling organizations to significantly reduce the amount of server hardware required.

"The new Helix Producer with IP ingest is a win for us and a win for our customers - helping save both time and money," said Edgar Ceron, CEO of XSN Group, a leading provider of digital media solutions for Latin America and a reseller partner for RealNetworks Helix Media Delivery Platform.

"We are in process of helping a government customer achieve its goal of offering a citywide traffic monitoring system with live streaming video from 2,000 traffic cams - using 40 percent less server hardware, significantly cutting costs and spending less time on technology administration," Ceron added. "By using Helix Producer with IP ingest, the mayor is thrilled at how quickly and affordably they will be able to offer this valuable traffic service to its citizens throughout the city."

The Helix Producer is a key component of the Helix Media Delivery Platform, the flagship streaming media solution that pioneered the category in 1995. Today, Helix products are leveraged around the globe by corporations, universities, mobile carriers and government institutions, among others.
