ATEX Approved Mass Flow Controllers with Fieldbus Interface

Bronkhorst High-Tech B.V. manufactures the largest variety of thermal Mass Flow Meters and Controllers for gases and liquids available on the market. The new IN-FLOW Series of Mass Flow Meters are compact, modular instruments of rugged design according IP65 (dust- and waterproof). They can be combined with control valves, either integrated or close-coupled, whereby gas flows are measured and controlled within the overall range of 0,2 mln/min up to 11.000 m3n/h air-equivalent. The instruments are now (september 2005) ATEX approved for use in Category 3, Zone 2 hazardous areas.

Bronkhorst High-Tech have developed their latest digital Mass Flow Meters/Controllers by following the "multi-bus" principle. The basic pc-board on the instrument contains all of the general functions needed for measurement and control, including alarm, totalization and diagnostic functions. It has analog I/O-signals and also an RS232 connection as a standard feature. In addition to this there is the possibility of integrating an interface board with DeviceNet(TM), Profibus-DP®, Modbus or FLOW-BUS protocol. The latter is a fieldbus specifically designed by Bronkhorst High-Tech for their mass flow metering and control solutions, and as a result of which they now have over 15 years of experience with digital communication.

Applications can be found in process control systems as for example in food, chemical and petrochemical plants.
