Borries Configures MicroLiner Marker for Online Usage

Ann Arbor, MI - Borries Marking Systems has expanded the capabilities of its
popular MicroLiner compact marker as an online version for versatile work piece
marking. The marking instrument, which can produce scribe, stylus or dot-matrix
marking processes (readable by the human eye), also can generate DataMatrix
code marking for reading with automated vision systems. Identified as the
MicroLiner 312, the marker has a marking window of 2" x 2" on an X/y axis. It
marks at up to four characters per second.

Don Hubchik, U.S. Manager for Borries, describes the new MicroLiner 312 as
"An affordable option for automating marking requirements. Although it is a
low cost alternative, it offers flexibility for in-line processing, lot control and
traceability."

The new unit uses a compact controller with ZAM4 capability and IP54
protection. The lightweight marker is only 6.6 lbs (3 kgs.). It can be faxed-
mounted in automation, or it can be supplied with indexing mechanisms or part-holding fixtures. Thus, "A broad range of part geometries easily can be inscribed," reports Mr. Hubchik. "Mounting can be in any orientation, and the
marker can be provided with a protective cover for dirty or wet environments," he
adds.

This new Borries marker unit measures approximately 6⅓ inches (160 mm) high
by 5.9 in. (150 mm) by 5.9 in. (150 mm) long. The controller can generate time and date codes internally, or receive marking data from other sources, via an RS232 interface, or optional RS422, TTY, Profibus, or Ethernet.
