Greycon Suite 7.7 & GreyconMill 2.4 Introduce Windows 8 Compatibility and Advanced Order Promising (ATP/CTP) Capabilities
LONDON -- Greycon, a world leader in supply chain optimisation for the paper, printing, film and nonwovens industries, today announced the release of Greycon Suite version 7.7 and GreyconMill 2.4. The new release includes certification for Windows 8 compatibility together with expanded functional capabilities in opt-Studio and GreyconMill.
The scheduling capabilities of opt-Studio now extend to arbitrary insertion of stock into multiple production stages. This means that an order can be met from any combination of production / semi-finished / finished stock.
Another functional enhancement in opt-Studio is the provision of in-house materials, so that a bill of materials explosion can also include materials produced in-house.
Commenting on these extensions, Alfredo Olivera (opt-Studio's product manager) said: "These two elements extend the usefulness of our product in new scenarios. The dynamic order promising (available-to-promise / capacity-to-promise (ATP/CTP)) capability is in a pre-release beta with a Brazilian customer. The customer is reporting better overall results, earlier promise dates and improved internal communications thanks to the transparency provided by the system. The challenge with ATP/CTP has always been how to turn it into a configurable generic product and we think we have cracked it now. The in-house materials functionality will be used by Raven Engineered Films (Sioux Falls, South Dakota), who will be using it in their laminated film products."
The simultaneous release of GreyconMill ties these two components together. An increasing number of customers are sourcing both a scheduling and a manufacturing execution solution from Greycon. GreyconMill's quality assurance functionality is enhanced in this release; this provides unambiguous monitoring (and traceability) for every quality attribute, visible to all users from the shop-floor to top-level management.
Commenting on this release, Konstantinos Panoulas (GreyconMill's product manager) said: "We have seen a rapid adoption of GreyconMill in the marketplace, with customers such as VPK and Elocoat placing repeat orders to roll out the solution to a second plant. The modern architecture of the system allows us to extend it easily, for example, Raven's singular capability to join together rolls side-by-side required only a modest extension in the system. The ramp up of resources in our Athens office supports this increase in activity and extends our time-zone coverage."
