May 12, 2005 - Magnetic Root Pumps are statically sealed against atmosphere, eliminating rotating seals that wear and leak, as well as cross contamination and oil pollution. Ranging from 250-6,000 m³/hr, units are also hermetically sealed, resulting in negligible leak rate of less than 1 x 10-5 mbar l/sec. Pumps are suited for chemical plant, coating, semiconductor, research and development, metallurgy, packaging, and freeze drying applications.

Pfeiffer Vacuum Introduces First Magnetically Coupled Roots Pumps

Pfeiffer Vacuum, one of the world's leading producers of vacuum products and services, introduces the first maintenance-free magnetically coupled roots pumps. These magnetic pumps are statically sealed against atmosphere eliminating rotating seals that wear and leak. This provides for safer, environmentally friendly operation by eliminating cross contamination and oil pollution associated with leaking seals. Higher uptime and lower operating costs can be expected by the elimination of radial shaft seal maintenance requirements. The pumps are hermetically sealed resulting in a negligible leak rate of < 1 x 10-5 mbar l/sec. The family of roots pumps range from 250 m3/h up to 6000 m3/h and are ideally suited for chemical plant, coating, semiconductor, R&D, metallurgy, packaging and freeze drying applications.

Pfeiffer Vacuum, Inc., develops, produces and markets key components for vacuum technology used in semiconductor fabrication, optical and thin film deposition, such as flat panel displays and TV monitors, analytical instrumentation, high energy physics, and research and development. Pfeiffer Vacuum offers an extensive range of vacuum pumps, vacuum gauges, leak detectors, mass spectrometers, and accessories such as valves, fittings and flanges.

Pfeiffer Vacuum North American operations offer marketing, sales, field services, repair, customer training, and applications and support. Sales and support functions are located throughout the U.S. with a major customer support center in Milpitas, California, in the heart of the semiconductor industry.
