Resilient Terephthalic Resin, DION® 31068-00, Introduced for Pultrusion

Low-Styrene, UV Stabilized, Resilient Terephthalic Eliminates Isophthalic Acid Supply Issues

Research Triangle Park, NC (June 11, 2007) - Reichhold has introduced a new low-styrene, UV stabilized, resilient terephthalic resin, DION® 31068-00, for the pultrusion market in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Because this resin is based on terephthalic acid, it should eliminate the cost and supply issues related to the on-going isophthalic acid shortages.

DION 31068-00 is a low-styrene, UV stabilized, medium-high reactivity, resilient terephthalic resin. It was developed as a performance match to UV-stabilized, resilient, isophthalic resin systems. The material was developed to yield a lower total cost structure for pultruders by enabling them to increase line speeds.

This resin boasts a unique combination of both low viscosity with a low-styrene content. With a styrene level of 30% or less, it is compliant under California Rules 50 and 1162 and is also direct injection capable.

This low viscosity resin yields outstanding physical properties. Its all around toughness makes it suitable for a wide variety of FRP production applications and allows for high-production rates.

Applications for DION 31068-00 include:

o Window Lineals
o Ladder Rails
o Tool Handles
o Fan Shrouds
o Structural Shapes
o Utility Pole Cross-Arms
o Lower end Sheet Piling/Seawalls

DION 31068-00 is available only in the United States, Canada and Mexico at this time.
