Vectron International Announces Smallest Low-Noise OCXO

OX-405 Four-pin Dip and Hermetic Seal Ideal for Harsh Environment Radar Applications

HUDSON, N.H., -- Vectron International, a leader in the design, manufacture and marketing of Precision Frequency Control and Timing Solutions, today announced its OX-405, a low-noise, small form factor oven-controlled crystal oscillator (OCXO) targeted specifically at harsh environment radar applications. Both airborne and ground based radars will benefit from the OX-405's small size and phase noise performance. The company will showcase this new product in Booth 1615 at the 2010 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium, to be held May 25-27, 2010 in Anaheim, California.

The OX-405 is the smallest low noise (below -165 dBc/Hz) OCXO at 100 MHz and is able to achieve this performance level while maintaining state-of-the-art close-in phase noise. "In the past, phase noise performance at these levels was only possible with significantly larger OCXOs," said Dave Bail, director of product marketing, Vectron International. "This product will allow design engineers to meet the lower size, weight and power restrictions they are currently facing. In addition, we designed the OX-405 with a four-point mount SC-cut crystal, making it ideal for applications where shock, acceleration and harsh environments are of concern."

"In military electronics, the strong trends towards miniaturization and reduced power consumption continue. At the same time, performance cannot be sacrificed," said Gregory Smolka, vice president, Industrial, Military and Space business unit, Vectron International. "With the introduction of the OX-405 as well as our other new low phase noise products, we are offering designers unprecedented noise specifications at the smallest size available in the market."

Specific features of the OX-405 include:

  • Small form factor 20x13mm hermetic package

  • Excellent phase noise performance at 100 MHz

    -- -125 dBc/Hz at 100 Hz offset

    -- -165 dBc/Hz Noise Floor

  • Ruggedized Four-Point Mount SC-Cut Crystal
