December 30, 2013 - Able to produce repeatable welds with forces down to 5 N, HiQ DIALOG series Low-Force version handles small, precision mechanical parts for such applications as medical technology and microelectronics. Control technology, precision actuator, and dialog control enable precise control of each step of 1.2 sec lasting welding process. Soft-Touch technology makes it possible to slow down sonotrode directly before it touches part, fostering soft and clean weld joint creation.

Herrmann Ultrasonics, Inc. launches Low Force Version of the HiQ DIALOG; Small Weld Joints are Flawless

The specialist for ultrasonic welding Herrmann Ultrasonics, Inc., is launching a new version of the proven HiQ DIALOG series. This machine allows achieving repeatable welds with low welding forces of 5 Newton. Smallest precision mechanical parts for i.e. medical technology or microelectronics can be welded.

‘It is difficult to achieve repeatable welding results for the entire product line while welding precision mechanical parts. This applies especially to medical technology.’ explains Uwe Peregi, General Manager and Executive Vice President of Herrmann Ultrasonics, Inc. ‘We met this challenge by developing the new Low Force as a perfect solution.’

The base for Herrmann Ultrasonics’ success is a refined control technology, the selection of a matching precision actuator as well as the combination with the dialog control. Therefore it was possible, to precisely control each step of the 1.2 sec lasting welding process. Due to the integration of the proven Herrmann Ultrasonics Soft-Touch technology, it is i.e. possible to slow down the sonotrode right before it touches the part. By doing this, a soft and clean weld joint can be created.

‘With the new Low-Force version, it should be possible to achieve low welding forces of down to 5 Newton. To date, the lower level has always been a maximum of 20 Newton. As all the other HiQ DIALOG machines, the new Low-Force version is controllable by Herrmann Ultrasonics’ developed control and FSC software. Therefore documentation and backtracking of each welding process is given. It is a decisive factor in the medical technology, as the focus is on the production of validated products,’ adds Uwe Peregi.
