Linear Position Sensor offers infinite resolution.
December 2, 2002 -
Model TDP-140 provides smart capability for small-bore pneumatic cylinders. It uses high-resistivity conductive plastic printed on anodized aluminum element. Molded wiper block, matching element profile, follows cylinder piston movement. Sensor provides absolute analog output and 1% linearity. It mounts within pressurized cylinders to 100 psi, and can be ordered in travel lengths of 1-24 in. Operating temperature is -25 to +100°C.

New Compact In-Cylinder Position Sensor Provides Affordable 'Smarts' for Small-Bore Cylinders
Sensor's infinite-resolution conductive-plastic element and profile-matching wiper block enable long-lived, low-cost cylinder positioning for high-accuracy applications
November 2002 - The TDP-140 linear position sensor from Transducers Direct provides OEM cylinder manufacturers with low-cost, easy-install "smart" capability for their small-bore pneumatic cylinders. The infinite-resolution sensor offers accurate and reliable position feedback in a compact design for small cylinders used on automated material handling, packaging, paper, textile and plastics processing equipment, as well as machine tools and other pneumatic power applications.
The TDP-140 uses a high-resistivity conductive plastic printed on a precision anodized aluminum element. A molded wiper block precisely matching element profile follows cylinder piston movement, while ensuring maximum sensor life and reliability. The sensor provides an absolute analog output and 1% linearity with no additional electronics required for high-accuracy positioning applications for off-highway vehicles, material handling, steel-rolling, amusement rides, timber processing and rock crushing/sifting equipment.
Ideal for hostile environments, the TDP-140 eliminates use of damage-prone external sensors by mounting safely within pressurized cylinders to 100 psi (7 Bar). The sensor can be ordered in travel lengths of 1" to 24" (in 1" increments) and is available with standard or optional custom header. The sensor is designed to work in temperatures from -25 to 100°C.
The sensor's integrally molded, PUR-jacketed three-core cabling provides excellent strain relief, chemical resistance and secure sealing. An in-line connector version is standard.
The TDP-140 in-cylinder position sensor is available for shipping from Transducers Direct from stock. List price starts under $100.
