February 5, 2003 - Flexible, fixed-temperature LHS™ fire-detector cable creates alarm conditions when cable's insulation melts and 2 conductors short together. Offered with alarm temperatures of 155, 185, 220, 350, and 465°F, it connects directly to initiating circuit of fire alarm panels. System can locate fire by zone when used with PEGAsys™ intelligent control panel and discrete addressable LHS cable zones. Applications include belt conveyors, tunnels, aircraft hangars, and classified hazardous areas.

Kidde Introduces New Linear Heat Sensor

Ashland, MA --- Kidde Fire Systems has introduced the LHS™ Linear Heat Sensor, a flexible, durable and cost-effective fixed-temperature fire detector cable that is designed to protect a wide range of commercial and industrial fire applications. Typical applications include areas where spot-type heat detectors are not effective such as belt conveyors, tunnels, aircraft hangars and classified hazardous areas.

The LHS linear heat sensor is a small diameter cable capable of detecting heat from a fire over its entire length. The heat causes the LHS cable’s special insulation to melt at a specific temperature, allowing the two conductors to short together, thus creating an alarm condition on the fire control panel.

The LHS linear heat sensor is available in five alarm temperatures: 155°F, 185°F, 220°F, 350°F and 465°F and connects directly to the initiating circuit of any fire alarm panel. The capability to locate fire by zone is available when the LHS linear heat sensor is used with the Kidde PEGAsys™ intelligent control panel and discrete addressable LHS cable zones.

For more information on the LHS Linear Heat Sensor, visit the Kidde Fire Systems web site at www.kiddefiresystems.com.
