Linear Displacement Meter works in ratiometric mode.

Press Release Summary:

Laureate Model SG is designed for transducers whose output is of changing resistance, as provided by sliding contact voltage divider. Changing resistance signal is converted to engineering units such as position, level, or percentage, and display is user-scalable to 5 digits. Along with 3 scaling methods, unit offers built-in, isolated excitation supply with selectable 5, 10, and 24 Vdc outputs. It can also be user-configured for use with 4-20 mA, 0-5 V, or 0-10 V process signals.

Scalable Linear Displacement Meter Works in Ratiometric Mode to Display Position

Costa Mesa, CA - Laurel Electronics, Inc. announces the Laureate Model SG, a UL-listed linear displacement meter for transducers whose output is a changing resistance, as provided by a sliding contact voltage divider. The meter operates in a ratiometric mode, where the excitation output is monitored to eliminate errors caused by variations in the excitation voltage. The display is user-scalable to five digits from -99999 to +99999.

The changing resistance signal is converted by the meter to engineering units such as position, level or percentage. Three scaling methods are selectable: scale and offset, two-point method, and system-level calibration using actual transducer signals.

A built-in, isolated excitation supply with selectable 5, 10, and 24 Vdc outputs is standard to power transducers, avoiding the need for an external supply. For use with potentiometers, the recommended excitation voltage is 10V. A resistor can then be placed in series with the excitation output and return leads to utilize the meter's 2.0000V scale, which provides a high input impedance of 1 Gohm. For use with strain gauges, the meter's isolated 10 Vdc, 120 mA excitation output can power up to four 350 ohm bridges in parallel

The meter can also be user-configured for use with 4-20 mA, 0-5V or 0-10V process signals, which require zero and span adjustment. The display can be scaled from the front panel to read directly in engineering units, such as PSI or GPM. Accuracy is an exceptional 0.01% of full scale ±2 counts. An adaptive digital filter provides stable readings in electrically noisy environments.

Options include dual relays for control or alarm, isolated 4-20 mA and 0-10V analog outputs, and an RS232 or a dual-connector RS485 port for data communications with a host computer or PLC. Modbus RS485 is fully supported.

The base price is $210. For more specifications and the pricing of options, visit www.laurels.com/process.htm.
