Linear Actuator is suitable for closed loop locking systems.
October 23, 2006 -
Ledex® Magnetic latching linear actuators feature solenoids that utilize permanent magnet technology to produce linear force without magnetic steel components. Permanent magnet allows unit to be driven in 2 directions with force-stroke curve that is relatively flat over entire length. Additional steel washer causes magnets to latch at either or both ends of stroke. Strokes greater than 1.00 in. can be achieved.

New Ledex® Solenoid Concept Provides Magnetic Latching Linear Actuation Ideal for Locking Applications
Produces linear force without need for magnetic steel components
VANDALIA, OH - Saia-Burgess Inc. introduces a new solenoid concept in their PMA family of magnetic latching linear actuators. These unique solenoids utilize permanent magnet technology to produce linear force without the need for any magnetic steel components. They can be used to perform many functions including door locking and are suitable for closed loop systems where position control is desirable.
Incorporating a permanent magnet allows the unit to be driven in two directions, the force-stroke curve is relatively flat over the entire length, and is suitable for low power operations. The addition of a steel washer will cause the magnets to latch at either or both ends of the stroke. Long strokes (>1.00 inch) can be achieved with more significant starting forces than traditional DC solenoids.
